Baseball Game Preview: Highland Huskies vs. Pine Plains Bombers

Highland has won three straight games at home, while Pine Plains has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Huskies will welcome the Bombers at 4:15 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Highland 4, Pine Plains 1.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Highland will bounce into Wednesday's game after beating Spackenkill, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Huskies put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 11-3 victory on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Huskies, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Pine Plains was able to grind out a solid win over Millbrook on Monday, taking the game 5-1.

Austin Mielich made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Mielich was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Matthew Spada, who earned two runs and two stolen bases. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.

Highland's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Pine Plains, their win bumped their record up to 10-0.
