Baseball Game Preview: Patriot Warriors vs. Colony Titans

The Patriot Warriors will square off against the Colony Titans at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Patriot is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

On Saturday, Patriot didn't have quite enough to beat Redlands and fell 3-1. The game marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Patriot saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Xavier Zepeda, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. Diego Ramirez also deserves some recognition as he stole his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Colony got the win against Riverside Prep on Saturday by a conclusive 8-1. Considering the Titans have won five matches by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Steven Gonzales and Anthony Moreno dominated on the mound. Gonzales pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits, while Moreno struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Gonzales has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Elijah Ybanez, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ricardo Zazueta, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Colony hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts every time they've taken the field this season.

Patriot's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Colony, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
