Soccer Game Preview: Goldsboro vs. Rolesville

The Goldsboro Cougars will head out on the road to square off against the Rolesville Rams at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Goldsboro is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They never let Beddingfield get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Rolesville hasn't lost a match yet, a trend which continued in their latest game on Friday. They skirted past Northern Nash 2-1. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 46th, while the Knights are ranked 184th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kelcey Bennett was the driving force of Rolesville's attack as she scored both of Rolesville's goals, bringing her season total up to 13 goals.

Rolesville pushed their record up to 7-0-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 19 goals over those four matchups. As for Goldsboro, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3-2.

Goldsboro suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Rolesville in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can Goldsboro avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
