Softball Game Preview: Kanab Cowboys vs. Beaver Beavers

Kanab is 0-10 against Beaver since March of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Kanab Cowboys will face off against the Beaver Beavers at 3:30 p.m. Kanab has given up an average of 12.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Kanab lost 14-4 to Gunnison Valley on Saturday.

Kanab saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Leah LaPlant, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. LaPlant has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Beaver). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Juab an 11-0 shutout on Saturday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Beavers considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

Jerzee Beaumont was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. She also launched a home run, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Danzee Bradshaw, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

Kanab's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Beaver, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Kanab has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Beaver struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Kanab might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Beaver in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can Kanab avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
