Baseball Recap: Rogers Comes Up Short

Rogers extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 2-7 in the process. They came up short against the Mansfield Senior Tygers, falling 20-0. The Rams were not able to make up for their defeat to the Tygers from their previous meeting back in March of 2024.

As for Mansfield Senior, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-8. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Mansfield Senior's part, Joshua Malone made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Malone also allowed no hits, which is notable because Mansfield Senior is 2-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 5-7 otherwise. Malone was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Mansfield Senior got a massive performance out of Peyton Page, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Page is becoming a predictor of the Tygers' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Sean Tanner, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

Coming up, Rogers is taking a road trip to square off against Springfield at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Rams are facing the Blue Devils at the right time seeing as the Blue Devils are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Mansfield Senior, they will be playing at home against Sandusky at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
