Baseball Recap: King Philip Regional Picks Up Seventh Straight Win at Home

King Philip Regional had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Stoughton on Thursday. The Warriors' pitcher stepped up to hand the Black Knights a 6-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Not much got past Ryan Higgins, who gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks to keep Stoughton off the board. Higgins has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Johnny Prater was excellent, earning one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Tommy Gately, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

King Philip Regional's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Stoughton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.
