Basketball Recap: Avon Comes Up Short

Avon played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 92-53 loss at the hands of the Berea-Midpark Titans. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-26.

Berea-Midpark's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reid Braaten, who went 7 for 11 en route to 18 points and seven steals. Braaten continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Nick Reece was another key player, going 6 of 8 from beyond the arc on his way to 20 points and four steals.

Avon moved to 9-8 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for Berea-Midpark, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.

Avon and Berea-Midpark should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. Avon (ranked 271st) will meet Midview (ranked 725th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Berea-Midpark will take on North Ridgeville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday up 258 places (185 vs. 443).
