Basketball Game Preview: Montgomery Academy Eagles vs. Stone Memorial Panthers

Two dominant guards in Skyler Stovall and Cade Capps are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Montgomery Academy Eagles will be taking part in a tournament against the Stone Memorial Panthers at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Montgomery Academy comes in on nine and Stone Memorial on four.

Montgomery Academy saw some tournament action on Saturday. They blew past Maine-Endwell 76-53. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 23 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Stone Memorial beat Johnson Central 67-61 on Saturday.

Stone Memorial pushed their record up to 12-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.2 points per game. As for Montgomery Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 14-1.

Montgomery Academy suffered a grim 89-69 defeat to Stone Memorial in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Capps, who dropped a double-double on 40 points and 12 rebounds.
