Recap: Center Roughriders vs. Carthage Bulldogs
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Center Roughriders ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 47-44 win over Carthage. The win was familiar territory for Center who now have five in a row.
Center's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lanaijha Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. Johnson is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Gabrielle Whisenant was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with two steals.
Center has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. As for Carthage, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Chapel Hill the next time they take the court. Carthage will head out to face Chapel Hill at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, while Center will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
