Softball Game Preview: Edinburgh Lancers vs. Oldenburg Academy Twisters

Edinburgh is a perfect 5-0 against Oldenburg Academy since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Lancers will host the Twisters at 5:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Edinburgh's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Oldenburg Academy has been banged up by eight consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

Last Tuesday, Edinburgh sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over South Ripley.

Kenna Streeval made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Streeval wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gracie Barrett, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Oldenburg Academy lost 17-5 to Milan on Tuesday.

Edinburgh now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Oldenburg Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.

Everything went Edinburgh's way against Oldenburg Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, as Edinburgh made off with a 15-0 win. Will the Lancers repeat their success, or do the Twisters have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
