Basketball Game Preview: Brashear Tigers vs. Marion County Mustangs

Brashear and Marion County are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2016, but not for long. The Brashear Tigers will take on the Marion County Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Brashear managed to keep up with Green City until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Brashear was dealt a 62-29 loss at the hands of Green City. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 386th, while the Gophers are ranked 104th).

Meanwhile, Marion County entered their tilt with Atlanta on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Hornets by a score of 50-42. That's two games straight that the Mustangs have won by exactly eight points.

Brashear's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-8. As for Marion County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.

Brashear couldn't quite finish off Marion County in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 and fell 38-36. Can Brashear avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
