Basketball Preview: Washington Township Senators vs. South Central Satellites

Washington Township is 8-2 against the Satellites since January of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Washington Township Senators will be playing in front of their home fans against the South Central Satellites at 8:00 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Washington Township came into Saturday's game having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They had just enough and edged Lake Station Edison out 52-49. The win was just what Washington Township needed coming off of a 72-45 defeat in their prior match.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, South Central beat the Oilers 59-54 on Saturday.

South Central's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Derek Welsh, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin T hiigli, who scored 17 points along with two steals.

Washington Township's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-6. As for South Central, their win bumped their record up to 7-9.

Washington Township came out on top in a nail-biter against the Satellites in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, sneaking past 48-45. Does Washington Township have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Satellites turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
