Basketball Recap: Kinkaid Comes Up Short

Kinkaid lost against Cornerstone Christian back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Kinkaid Falcons fell 54-41 to the Cornerstone Christian Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 598th, while the Warriors are ranked 145th).

Cornerstone Christian was led to victory by Joaquin Galindo and Benjamin Wagner. Galindo went 5 of 11 on his way to 15 points, while Wagner went 5 for 11 en route to 16 points and eight rebounds. Wagner has been hot, having posted 16 or more points the last six times he's played. Makaden Weathington was another key player, putting up six points.

Kinkaid has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Cornerstone Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 23-2 record this season.
