Magna Vista waltzed into their matchup on Monday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They blew past the Halifax County Comets 59-38. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while the Comets are ranked 305th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Magna Vista pushed their record up to 16-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points over those games. As for Halifax County, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.
