Preview: George Washington Patriots vs. Denver South Ravens
After 15 games on the road, George Washington is heading back home. They will take on the Denver South Ravens at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
George Washington scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They blew past Far Northeast W 94-43 on the road. That 51 points margin sets a new team best for George Washington this season.
George Washington found their leader in underclassman Jeremiah Trimm, who scored 27 points along with six rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Trimm has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Chris Fernandez, who scored 20 points.
Meanwhile, Denver South had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top against Denver East by a score of 58-46. That's two games straight that Denver South has won by exactly 12 points.
It was another big night for Dominic Rhoades-Martinez, who scored 21 points along with six assists and four blocks. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Cobb, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
George Washington is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. As for Denver South, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-5.
Tuesday's matchup is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: George Washington have been dynamite from deep this season, having nailed 51.7% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Denver South struggles in that department as they've drained 42.2% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
George Washington beat Denver South 74-64 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Will George Washington repeat their success, or does Denver South have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
