On Wednesday,
Bishop McDevitt (Harrisburg, Pa.) running back
Jameel Poteat, the No. 50 player in the class of 2011, announced his decision to attend Pitt.
Chestnut, an All-State selection his freshman season, has been a well-known commodity on the recruiting trail. Originally from New Jersey, he chose the Panthers over Rutgers as well as West Virginia.
He made 91 tackles and intercepted four passes as a junior for
Pottsgrove (Pa.) last season. Chestnut also spent some time at quarterback, where he accounted for 23 total touchdowns.
With the help of teammate
Maika Polamalu, Chestnut led Pottsgrove to a 14-0 record last season before falling in the Class AAA seminfinals to Archbishop Wood.
Chestnut joins an increasingly-talented crop of 2011 Panther recruits, which includes New Jersey athlete
Bill Belton and quarterback
Gary Nova.
Pitt currently has the top recruiting class in the Big East.
