South Elgin extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping them up to 3-2. They blew past the West Chicago Wildcats 46-14. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 31-6.

As for West Chicago, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 274th, while South Elgin is ranked 105th).

Despite the loss, West Chicago saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Joel Montgomery picked up 70 receiving yards, and also rushed for 62 yards. Montgomery was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield on a catch that went for 68 yards. Carter Naranjo helped out on the ground, rushing for 93 yards.

South Elgin has already played their next game, a 49-0 win against Streamwood on the 3rd. As for West Chicago, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 61-6 victory against Elmwood Park on the 3rd.
