Volleyball Recap: Fort Wayne Northrop Comes Up Short

Fort Wayne Northrop lost against Homestead back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Bruins came up short against the Spartans, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Bruins have suffered since September 9th.

The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-12, 25-15.

Maleah Schmucker paced Fort Wayne Northrop's offense, picking up six kills. Schmucker got some help from Madison Corley and her ten assists. Corley was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Homestead was led to victory by Avary Heady and BreeAnne Polston. Heady had three digs and two aces, while Polston had four digs and two aces. What's more, Heady racked up 18 assists, the most she's had over her last three contests. Lydia Bashford also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Fort Wayne Northrop has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season. As for Homestead, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-7.

Coming up, Fort Wayne Northrop will welcome Fort Wayne Bishop Luers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Homestead, they will head out on the road to face off against Carroll at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
