Matoaca won the last time they faced Prince George and Trevion Mills did his part to make sure it happened again. The Warriors walked away with a 27-20 win over the Royals on Friday with plenty of help from Mills, who rushed for 100 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 14 carries. Matoaca is 2-1 when Mills posts 80 or more rushing yards, but 0-5 otherwise.

Special teams played a big role in the game for Matoaca, adding 13 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Joshua Beasley, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

One reason for the win was Matoaca's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Brody Vaden, Kamari Walker, and Karvaris Gay, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in Prince George's side was Vaden, who picked up a sack and made ten total tackles (2.0 for loss).

When it comes to explaining why Prince George lost, don't look at Lawrence Hewlett Jr.. Despite the final result, he rushed for 94 yards and three scores.

The victory made it two in a row for Matoaca and bumps their season record up to 2-6. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to yards per carry: they averaged an imposing 7.45 yards per carry in those games compared to only 2.05 in the others. As for Prince George, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.
