Baseball Game Preview: Las Plumas Thunderbirds vs. Orland Trojans

The Las Plumas Thunderbirds will head out on the road to face off against the Orland Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Las Plumas came up short against Gridley on Friday, falling 8-1. The Thunderbirds have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Las Plumas saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hunter George, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Orland came tearing into Friday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Cardinals a 13-0 shutout. The game marked the Trojans' most dominant victory of the season.

Garin Mcnary was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Mcnary was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2. Orland is undefeated when Mcnary posts two or more runs, but 5-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, Orland got a big performance out of Luke Schager, who scored a run. Another player making a difference was Dallas Dixon, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Orland's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-6. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Las Plumas, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8-2.
