Softball Recap: Alliance Aviators vs. Minerva Lions

After a string of three wins, Alliance's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Minerva Lions. Alliance was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Minerva apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

Alliance saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bri Hull, who went 1-for-3 with a triple and a run.

On Minerva's side, Sierra Cress was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and not a single walk). Cress has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive pitching appearances. Cress was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with a home run.

Alliance's defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Minerva, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-4.

Alliance will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Marlington at 5:00 p.m. Marlington will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Alliance surely won't give up without a fight. As for Minerva, they will head out on the road to square off against Carrollton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Minerva will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
