Baseball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Ocoee's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

Ocoee won the last time they faced Circle Christian and things went their way on Thursday too. The Ocoee Knights put the hurt on the Circle Christian Centurions with a sharp 17-5 win. Considering the Knights have won five contests by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Trenton Nice made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other pitching news, Onrique Archie looked comfortable as he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Ocoee is 5-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 2-6 otherwise.

Back at the plate, Serico Allen was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Ocoee is 2-1 when Allen posts three or more hits, but 5-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Dwight Oneal, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Ocoee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Ocoee is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. Circle Christian dropped their record down to 2-8 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Ocoee will host Conrad Academy at 6:00 p.m. on March 20th. Ocoee is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season. Circle Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Holy Cross Lutheran Academy at 5:30 p.m. on March 24th. Circle Christian is facing Holy Cross Lutheran Academy at the right time seeing as Holy Cross Lutheran Academy is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
