Basketball Recap: Horizon Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Horizon Christian Academy and Valor Christian squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Horizon Christian Academy had to settle for second. They fell 50-42 to the Valor Christian Lions.

Despite the defeat, Horizon Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Nyla Black dropped a double-double with 30 points and 17 rebounds. Black is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 22 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Davidson, who posted nine points.

It was another big night for Alyssa Mullholand, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and ten boards for Valor Christian. The dominant performance gave Mullholand a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Dean, who had seven points along with seven assists and four steals.

Horizon Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 19-7. As for Valor Christian, the win (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 27-2.

As of now, neither Horizon Christian Academy nor Valor Christian have any future games scheduled.
