Softball Game Preview: Mingo Central Miners vs. Independence Patriots

The Mingo Central Miners are taking a road trip to take on the Independence Patriots at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mingo Central will be strutting in after a victory while Independence will be coming in after a defeat.

On Tuesday, Mingo Central was able to grind out a solid win over Tolsia, taking the game 8-4. The victory continues a trend for the Miners in their matchups with the Rebels: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, Independence came up short against Shady Spring on Thursday and fell 11-6.

Emma Lilly stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. Kassidy Bradbury was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

Independence's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 15-7. As for Mingo Central, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
