Football Recap: Manual Arts Takes a Loss

Manual Arts fell victim to Marquez and their airtight defense on Thursday. They had to suffer through a 58-0 loss at the hands of the Gladiators. The Toilers have struggled against the Gladiators recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Marquez got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Angelo Gutierrez-Molina out in front who threw for 95 yards and four touchdowns on only seven passes. Gutierrez-Molina's passing game has become a key predictor of the Gladiators' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Tobi McClendon, who rushed for 92 yards and one TD on only six carries.

Manual Arts now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Marquez, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Manual Arts will host Jefferson at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Toilers will be up against the Democrats' rather soft defense (which has allowed 28.33 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Marquez, they will welcome Dr. Maya Angelou Community at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st. The Gladiators will be up against the Phoenix's rather soft defense (which has allowed 43 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
