Soccer Game Preview: Lane Tech vs. Oak Park-River Forest

The Lane Tech Champions will head out on the road to face off against the Oak Park-River Forest Huskies at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Lane Tech sitting on three straight wins and Oak Park-River Forest on ten.

Lane Tech is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They never let Maine South get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. Give Lane Tech's defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Kanan Kraus, who's now up to 11 this season.

Meanwhile, in Tuesday's Canine Competition, Oak Park-River Forest came out on top. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Niles West 1-0. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Oak Park-River Forest's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked second, while Niles West are ranked 50th).

Lane Tech's record is now 19-2. As for Oak Park-River Forest, their record now sits at 19-2-2.

Lane Tech was able to grind out a solid victory over Oak Park-River Forest when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Champions since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
