Baseball Recap: Cherokee Trail Comes Up Short

Cherokee Trail was the 1-0 winner over Eaglecrest when they last played one another back in March, but their luck changed this time around. The Cougars fell just short of the Raptors by a score of 5-4 on Monday. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Cherokee Trail got a good showing from Connor Carlson, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Carlson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Landon McWilliams was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Cherokee Trail's loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Eaglecrest, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.

Coming up, Cherokee Trail will be playing at home against Cherry Creek at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bruins will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight. As for Eaglecrest, they will welcome Denver North at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
