Recap: Delta Eagles vs. Jay County Patriots
The Delta Eagles suffered their biggest defeat since November 7, 2023 on Thursday. Their tough 60-36 loss to Jay County might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Delta can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 205th, while Jay County is ranked 36th).
Despite the defeat, Delta saw an underclassman step up: Jillian Barr scored 14 points along with nine blocks and six rebounds. Barr is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last eight games she's played. Paizley Cool was another key contributor, scoring three points along with eight rebounds and six blocks.
Delta's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Jay County, the victory (which was their 16th in a row) raised their record to 18-2.
Delta will head out on the road to take on Shelbyville at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Shelbyville will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. Jay County will take on Southern Wells at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
