Recap: Lely Trojans vs. Barron Collier Cougars
The Lely Trojans and the Barron Collier Cougars squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but sadly the Lely Trojans had to settle for second. They took a 53-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars. While losing is never fun, Lely can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 363rd, while Barron Collier is ranked 155th).
Barron Collier's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Spencer Clayton, who scored 19 points along with five assists. Another player making a difference was Christian Olander, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Lely's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-14. As for Barron Collier, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season.
Lely does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Barron Collier, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 66-58 win vs. Golden Gate on the 10th.
