Basketball Game Preview: Alameda Hornets vs. Bishop O'Dowd Dragons

Alameda is 2-8 against Bishop O'Dowd since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The two teams will face off at 7:30 p.m. without much rest, having both just played. One thing working in Alameda's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven contests.

On Wednesday, Alameda beat Piedmont 66-57. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while the Highlanders are ranked 367th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bishop O'Dowd). They claimed a resounding 85-43 victory over San Leandro. The Dragons haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Alameda has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.8 points over those games. As for Bishop O'Dowd, their victory bumped their record up to 14-10.

Alameda barely slipped by Bishop O'Dowd in their previous meeting back in January, winning 54-53. Will Alameda repeat their success, or does Bishop O'Dowd have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
