Basketball Recap: Jackson Takes a Loss

Jackson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 45-41 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mary Persons Bulldogs. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 76-72 back in November of 2024.

Mary Persons found their leader in sophomore Dee Grier, who went 9 for 15 en route to 22 points and five assists. Another player making a difference was Josiah Knights, who posted six points and 13 rebounds.

Jackson's defeat dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Mary Persons, the victory snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 6-14 record.

Jackson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 63-56 win against Academy for Classical Education on the 25th. Mary Persons has also already played their next contest, a 45-43 loss against Whitewater on the 24th.
