Baseball Game Preview: Wyalusing Valley Rams vs. Canton Warriors

Wyalusing Valley has gone 8-2 against Canton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Rams will challenge the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. Wyalusing Valley's hitters haven't had much luck over their past four matchups, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Wyalusing Valley came up short against Northeast Bradford on Friday, falling 11-1.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Canton, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They put the hurt on Williamson with a sharp 9-0 victory on Monday. Canton has beaten Williamson the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest Williamson has come to flipping the script.

Reed Taylor was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Canton got a massive performance out of Trapper Burr, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Burr is becoming a predictor of Canton's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 4-10 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Bailey Gardner, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

Canton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive contests.

Wyalusing Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Canton, their record is now 6-11.

Wyalusing Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Canton in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
