Port Allen is a perfect 4-0 against White Castle since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Pelicans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Port Allen will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Wednesday, then bounced right back against East Iberville on Thursday. The Pelicans blew past the Tigers 17-3. The Pelicans haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Olivia Rodney made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs but no hits. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in February. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Taylor Saizon was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Marsha Shirley was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask White Castle). They were the clear victors by a 32-1 margin over Broadmoor on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
White Castle let Jordyn Martin and Kelsie Bracken run wild. Martin went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Bracken got on base in four of her five plate appearances with five runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI. That triple marked the first that Martin hit this season. Another player making a difference was Amari Zachary, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.
White Castle kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
White Castle pushed their record up to 6-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 25.8 runs over those games. As for Port Allen, their victory bumped their record up to 8-13.
Everything went Port Allen's way against White Castle when the teams last played back in March of 2023, as Port Allen made off with a 21-6 win. Will the Pelicans repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
