Soccer Game Preview: South San Antonio vs. Southwest

South San Antonio is 0-10 against Southwest since March of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. The South San Antonio Bobcats will look to defend their home pitch against the Southwest Dragons at 7:15 p.m.

South San Antonio fell victim to McCollum and their airtight defense on Friday. They came up short against the Cowboys, falling 7-0. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 401st, while the Cowboys are ranked 195th).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Southwest, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They never let Southside onto the board and left with a 4-0 win on Friday. Considering the Dragons have won five matches by more than three goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Southwest pushed their record up to 7-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those four games. As for South San Antonio, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7-1.

South San Antonio might still be hurting after the 11-0 loss they got from Southwest in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can South San Antonio avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
