Basketball Recap: Thales Academy Apex Falls Despite Big Games from Gradyn West and Zach Rachmuth

Thales Academy Apex was the 63-35 winner over Neuse Christian Academy when they last played one another on January 13th, but their luck changed this time around. The Thales Academy Apex Titans fell just short of the Neuse Christian Academy Lions by a score of 67-64 on Tuesday. That's two games in a row now that the Titans have lost by exactly three points.

Thales Academy Apex's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Zach Rachmuth, who went 14 for 21 on his way to 34 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals, and Gradyn West, who went 7 of 13 en route to 22 points. That's the most points Rachmuth has posted since back in December of 2023.

Neuse Christian Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aidan Graham out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 26 points and nine boards. Graham continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Carter Brown, who posted 15 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Thales Academy Apex and nudges their season record down to 9-11. As for Neuse Christian Academy, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-11.

Thales Academy Apex will square off against Thales Academy Rolesville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Neuse Christian Academy, they will face off against Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
