Preview: Carbondale Area Chargers vs. Riverside Vikings
The Carbondale Area Chargers will head out on the road to face off against the Riverside Vikings at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Monday, Carbondale Area didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Dunmore, but they still walked away with a 48-42 win. Given Carbondale Area's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 212th, while Dunmore is ranked 448th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Riverside didn't have too much trouble with Lakeland on the road on Monday as they won 58-39. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Riverside.
Carbondale Area pushed their record up to 11-3 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Riverside, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.
Carbondale Area couldn't quite finish off Riverside in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 and fell 49-46. Can Carbondale Area avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
