Softball Recap: Four Straight Home Wins for Bullitt East

Bullitt East barely beat Holy Cross the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Chargers were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Cougars on Thursday. Considering the Chargers have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Emma Thompson, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinnley Murphy, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Bullitt East always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Holy Cross only posted an OBP of .235.

Bullitt East's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Holy Cross, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-10.

Looking ahead, Bullitt East will host Whitefield Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.69 runs per game on average), something the Chargers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Holy Cross, they will venture away from home to challenge Bethlehem at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
