Basketball Recap: Janell Julue Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Southern

Seneca's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They put the hurt on the Southern Trojans with a sharp 49-26 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Red Hawks also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Seneca's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Janell Julue, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards. That's the most points Julue has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Carliale Pollard, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 15 points and three steals.

Seneca smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 12 consecutive matchups.

The win snapped Seneca's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-4 record. As for Southern, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Seneca didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 44-35 defeat against Kentucky Country Day on the 21st. Southern has also already played their next contest (against Woodford County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
