Football Recap: LBJ Austin Piles Up the Points Against Manor New Tech

While LBJ Austin put up plenty of points on Thursday, the same can't be said for Manor New Tech. The Jaguars blew past Manor New Tech 48-0. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Jaguars' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 302nd, while Manor New Tech are ranked 1016th).

LBJ Austin's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marquis Murry II, who rushed for 187 yards and two TDs on only 12 carries. With that strong performance, Murry II is now averaging an impressive 110.7 rushing yards per game. Louis Hickman did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 101 receiving yards.

LBJ Austin didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Manor New Tech to a completion percentage of just 46.2%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from six players: Javarlyn Smith, Ladanian Green, Tre Riley, Antione Baker, Trace Lamar, and Jayden Bradley, who each logged one passes deflected. LBJ Austin wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 60%.

LBJ Austin didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Josiah Covington and Kayden Lewis. LBJ Austin got some further help from Joshua Covington: he picked up a sack and made seven total tackles (4.0 for loss).

The win made it two in a row for LBJ Austin and bumps their season record up to 4-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 9 points in those games. As for Manor New Tech, they dropped their record down to 2-5 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.
