Volleyball Recap: St. Francis Borgia Takes a Loss

After flying high against Fort Zumwalt East on Monday, St. Francis Borgia came back down to earth. The Knights took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lutheran Cougars on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Knights in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost nine in a row.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Lutheran scored at least 17 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 24-26, 25-17, 25-17.

Lutheran can attribute much of their success to Xavier Brandt, who had nine digs and one assist. Those nine digs gave Brandt a new career-high.

St. Francis Borgia's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11-1. As for Lutheran, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.

St. Francis Borgia will head out on the road to challenge Bayless at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Lutheran, they will welcome Holt at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
