Football Recap: St. Mary's Comes Up Short + How To Watch

After flying high against Justice last Friday, St. Mary came back down to earth. The Pirates fell just short of the Clear Creek Golddiggers by a score of 46-43 on Thursday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (42), the Pirates still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, St. Mary's still got an impressive performance from Michael Trechter, who rushed for 85 yards and two TDs, and also threw for 223 yards and a pair of touchdowns. A healthy portion of that aerial production (103 yards to be exact) went to Jackson Beam, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

It was another big night for Jacob Young, who threw for 406 yards and four TDs while completing 77.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 65 yards on only seven carries for Clear Creek. Those 65 rushing yards gave Young a new career-high. Donovan Miller also helped out as he racked up 172 receiving yards.

St. Mary's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Clear Creek, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

St. Mary's and Clear Creek will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Pirates will take on rival Elbert at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. Meanwhile, Clear Creek is set to challenge their familiar foe Gilpin County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
