Recap: Tree of Life Christian Trojans vs. Delaware Christian Eagles
There's no place like home for the Tree of Life Christian Trojans, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They welcomed the New Year with a 20-16 victory over Delaware Christian. The victory was all the more spectacular given Tree of Life Christian's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 613th, while Delaware Christian is ranked 252nd).
Delaware Christian lost on Friday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Addy Beard, who scored seven points along with five rebounds. Beard scored a full 43.8% of Delaware Christian's points, the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Audra Leadbetter, who scored six points along with nine rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Delaware Christian struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Tree of Life Christian's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Delaware Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-2.
Tree of Life Christian will head out on the road to face off against Newark Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Newark Catholic will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line. Delaware Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Granville Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024.
