Preview: Macks Creek Pirates vs. Lakeland Vikings
The Macks Creek Pirates will square off against the Lakeland Vikings at TBD on Monday. Macks Creek is looking to tack on another W to their ten-game streak on the road.
In what's become a running theme this season, Macks Creek gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They blew past Weaubleau 72-27 on the road. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-13.
It was another big night for India Willis, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 19 rebounds. She hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games. Emma Seaholm was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Lakeland's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 61-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Weaubleau. While losing is never fun, Lakeland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 456th, while Weaubleau is ranked 220th).
Macks Creek's win bumped their record up to 14-2. As for Lakeland, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.
Macks Creek took a serious blow against Lakeland in their previous matchup back in January of 2019, falling 63-36. Thankfully for Macks Creek, Annie Swaters (who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
