Softball Recap: Santa Fe Wins Going Away Against Texas City

Santa Fe won the last time they faced Texas City and things went their way on Tuesday too. Santa Fe was the clear victor by a 14-4 margin over Texas City. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by eight runs or more this season.

Carlie Hrncir spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Stella Rippard was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikayla Nations, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Rippard wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Santa Fe kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Santa Fe's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-10. As for Texas City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-7-1.

Looking ahead, Santa Fe will take on Iowa Colony at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Santa Fe is facing Iowa Colony at the right time seeing as Iowa Colony is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Texas City, they will square off against Angleton at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Angleton will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something Texas City surely won't give up without a fight.
