Basketball Game Preview: Canistota Hawks vs. Howard Tigers

Canistota is 2-8 against Howard since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Canistota Hawks will head out on the road to take on the Howard Tigers at 6:15 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Tuesday, Canistota was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 26-22 to Parkston. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while the Trojans are ranked eighth).

Meanwhile, Howard was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 54-35 to DeSmet.

Howard's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Canistota, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Canistota came up short against Howard when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 58-45. Can Canistota avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
