It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but St. Rita ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Marian Catholic Spartans 7-6. The win was some much needed relief for the Mustangs as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Will Rewers looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk).
At the plate, Jaidon Hilliard was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Christian Clark was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three RBI.
St. Rita's victory bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Marian Catholic, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.
