Baseball Game Preview: Beaumont Cougars vs. Colony Titans

The Beaumont Cougars will face off against the Colony Titans at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Beaumont has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with five straight losses, while Colony will come in with nine straight victories.

Beaumont is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest defeat since April 24, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of Yucaipa by a score of 8-6.

Johnnie Gill made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Landen Nesbit was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs.

Colony let Chaffey stack five runs on them in the fifth inning on Monday but luckily Colony prevailed anyway. The Titans had just enough and edged out the Tigers 8-7.

Carlos Barba made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

In other batting news, Jeremy Guadian and Noah Lara did most of the damage at the plate: Guadian went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Lara went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Guadian a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ricardo Zazueta, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Colony pushed their record up to 18-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Beaumont, their loss dropped their record down to 2-14.
