Softball Recap: Nipomo Titans vs. McFarland Cougars
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Nipomo had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They blew past the McFarland Cougars 18-3. Considering Nipomo has won ten games by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Ava Camacho made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). Camacho has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive pitching appearances. Camacho was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two doubles and two RBI.
In other batting news, Vivianne Goss was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and a double. Alie Camacho was another key contributor, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.
The victory (which was Nipomo's third in a row) raised their record to 12-14. As for McFarland, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-19.
