Volleyball Recap: East Surry Starts Season with Win Against East Wilkes

East Surry had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past East Wilkes 3-2. East Surry hasn't had any issues with East Wilkes recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was East Surry who won the one that mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 21-25, 25-13, 23-25, 15-11.

When it comes to explaining why East Wilkes lost, don't look at Bailey Stanley. Despite the final result, she had 19 digs, seven kills, six aces, and one block. Stanley is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last nine games she's played dating back to last season.

East Surry didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against West Forsyth on the 13th. As for East Wilkes, they have also already played their next match, a 3-1 defeat against Mount Airy on the 14th.
