Basketball Recap: Hydaburg Comes Up Short

Hydaburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 18th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 43-23 to the Klawock Chieftains. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chieftains this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 45-21 last Wednesday.

Klawock's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lea Armour led the charge by putting up 23 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. Kaiya Marvin was another key player, scoring six points along with 18 rebounds and six blocks.

Hydaburg's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Klawock, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hydaburg will venture away from home to take on Hoonah at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hoonah will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Hydaburg surely won't give up without a fight. As for Klawock, they will head out on the road to square off against Non Varsity Opponent on Tuesday.
